A* Education was established in 2007 by Adam Thornton, a  qualified Teacher who has worked in many Schools around Somerset.

We are a Somerset-based teacher recruitment agency that strives to provide an unbeatable service, with the friendliness, reliability and dedication that only a locally-run family business can bring.

As the sole Teacher/School consultant, I can offer a bespoke service, out-of-hours contact options and complete peace of mind that I will do my upmost to sort your cover needs, working around the clock when necessary and keeping you updated to the progress as and when and however suits you best.

We pay our teachers very competitively and look after them as valued employees, with an unrivalled personable service.

I have the benefit of knowing Somerset extremely well, having lived here my whole life. I have worked/visited most of the schools and can advise teachers on the quickest routes for travel and use my local knowledge to match up appropriate schools and teachers, unlike some of the bigger city-based agencies, who often employ generic recruitment consultants who have never worked within schools and do not know rural Somerset well.

We currently have Primary and Secondary Teachers on the books, but some of these fully-qualified teachers are also sometimes available for T.A cover or Early Years Nursery cover too.

Checks:

Every teacher working for A* Education will be interviewed and vetted on the following information:

- Identity check & eligibility to work in UK- Via EU passport

- Criminal record/barring lists/List 99- Via Enhanced DBS

- QTS/Qualifications/Sanctions- Via certificates and Dept. Ed website

- Reference checks- Via referees

* Copies of each teacher’s C.V/DBS or references are available on request.

Insurance:

Both Employers Liability Insurance and Public Liability Insurance will be provided by

A* Education.

Daily rates:

Daily-cover rate (posts from 1 – 5 days) = £170 p/d

Mid-term rate (posts from 1 – 12 weeks) = £180 p/d

Long-term rate (12 weeks +) = negotiated relevant to National Teacher Scale

Part-day rate  = £90/£110 depending on hours
